Brian Garrett, of the North Midlands RFU Club Development Team, visited Redditch RFU yesterday to award RFU Volunteer Recognition Programme Awards to two of our members.
Club Coach Luke Kerins was awarded the recognition due to his stirling efforts in keeping an interesting and meaningful training programme operating right throughout the Covid 19 restrictions. Luke was able to respond to the ever changing demands and adjust his programme according to the latest restrictions often at short notice.
The second award went to Club Chairman, Brian Carr, who, in his other role of Chair of Redditch Cricket, Hockey and Rugby Football Club Limited, brought together a team to steer the whole club through the difficult Covid 19 period. Brian had to cope with the difficulties of trading restrictions as well as the resignation of the club steward. That he coped is testament to the enthusiasm which he applied to the tasks in hand leaving the club in a strong position post pandemic.
The awards were made after the matches where the 1st team defeated Five Ways 34-0 to go 4th in the League, whilst the 2nds welcomed Stourbridge Grasshoppers who ran out easy winners by 58 points to 17.
