Redditch made the welcome return to Bromsgrove Road with an uphill task in front of them as they met the undefeated League leaders in Chaddesley Corbett.

And it soon became evident that the visitors were here to play as both sides were trying to get the refs wavelength as he was liberal with penalties in the opening phase. CC were first to break the deadlock with a goal on 10 minutes.

There was just one penalty in the next 15 minutes as both sides threw everything into the contest. Once more it was the visitors who took the advantage with another goal.

Again the play was intense from both sides but CC earned the displeasure of the ref and had to take a Yellow Card for repeated offences..

Being a man down seemed to lift the visitors' efforts and they scored a goal and a try either side of half time to give them a 0-26 point lead on 4 minutes of the second half.

Redditch pounded the Chaddesley line but their defense held until a turnover gifted the visitors another goal on 23 minutes.

The rest of the game was all Redditch as possession was dominated but the skilful and aggressive tackling of Chaddesley kept them out until Harry Rutter was set free and made a 50 metre mazy run before being brought down in the shadow of the posts. It did deserve a try, but the forwards were there in support and Redditch crossed the line with Will Spires converting.

Once again Redditch threw everything at the visitors but could not breach the line.

The final score of 7-33 did not reflect the closeness and intensity of the game as Redditch did not let the score impact on their attitude and strived to make the next decisive moment theirs.
