After a poor start conceding soft tries and showing some poor handling skills Redditch narrowly failed in their fightback going down 17-19 to the visitors Warley.
Warley pack dominated in the scrums from the off and often a scrum awarded to them was the last thing Redditch wanted. And in the lineout the Warley 2 jumper knew a few tricks which negated our front ball.
So Redditch had to take their possession from a high penalty count in their favour and pressure on the Warley backs.
Apart from one beautifully taken try by the visitors' fly half Redditch defence looked equal to the task. However concentration let them down as a charge down and a quickly taken tap penalty left Redditch 7-19 down at half time.
Redditch were using the pick and drive to great advantage turning the big Warley forwards and often drawing the penalty as they came in from the side. A penalty from Archie Beddard and a penalty try brought Redditch to within a score of victory. However it was not to be as try scoring opportunities and penalty kicks were missed.
