Redditch returned to the fray with the firsts at Five Ways Old Edwardians and the seconds at home to Dudley Kingswinford Wasps.
Both matches were not without incident, though the controversy remained in the administration rather than on the field.
At Hopwood both teams and the spectators turned up.....but the referee didn't.
After a minutes applause in respect of Redditch's injured player Ash Mooney, a willing volunteer was found to manage things and the game was played with Redditch running out easy winners. However the admin discussions roll on and it may be some days before the result is known. The resiult could stand, a walkover could be awarded, or the match could be replayed. The discussions are in the capable hands of the Midland Division Organising Committee who will hand down their final decision. Redditch will support any decision made.
Late breaking news - The MDOC have deemed the match an Away Walk Over giving a scoreline of 0-0 and 5 League Points to Redditch #####
The bucket collection in support of Ash Mooney and family raised approximately £500, with the final amount to be conirmed.
Great job Five Ways
Redditch thanks Five Ways for postponing the original fixture and do regret that the admin has let us all down on the day.
Meanwhile, back at Bromsgrove, Redditch Seconds had a good run out against a very strong Dudley Kingswinford side.
The final score of 12-49 was only achieved in the final stages as the Redditch XV tired visibly after being only 12-17 down after 35 minutes.
Full match reports for both games are in the match reports section of the web site.
Next week sees the firsts at home to Greyhound, the Vets at home to Evesham Vets, whilst the 2nds will use the week to lick their wounds after a tough day at the office.
Kick off for both matches is 3:00 pm.
