With excitement rising to fever pitch the much awaited Redditch Return to Rugby Match was scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
Balls were washed, ppe sprays topped up, safe seats marked in the changing rooms, risk analysis completed, referee organised and a wealth of players ready to go.
Then, with Murphy's Law in full operation, the rains came down. Redditch seemed to be the UK centre for overnight rainfall as every night seemed to produce another inch or half inch of rains.
The water logged pitch was just not playable.
And so, with heavy heart, the game was cried off with a promise of a rematch in the new year.
The pigeons and the seagulls took over the pitch with the seagulls, better suited to the conditions, running out easy winners, by 31 points to 7.
