It was a busy weekend to open the season at Redditch RFC.
On Saturday the 1st XV travelled to Evesham to take on Evesham 2nd team in the opening league round.
This was the first time that Lower XVs had been included in the Midlands' Leagues and the results were eagerly awaited.
Redditch competed well, leading at half time, but injuries, and the size and skill level of the opponents told in the second half with Evesham taking a clear victory. (see match Report).
Sunday saw the Junior Registration day with a good turnout, followed by training in several age groups.
Junior coaches and some of the players stayed on for the Walking Rugby Family Fun Day.
They were joined by teams from the Ladies and the Exiles to create a 4 way fixture list.
Scores were loosely kept, rules were loosely applied but everyone present enjoyed a little exercise, a few laughs and plenty of fun.
Most people were asking when will the next event be?
Bar b Que, Bouncy Castle and fully stocked bar added to the enjoyment for players and spectators alike.
Exiles Captain Duncan Davis, will be conducting Walkiung Rugby sessions on Friday mornings starting at 9:30am from the 9th September.
It is free and everyone is welcome.
