Redditch welcome Pershore to Bromsgrove Road on Saturday with kick off at 3:00pm for the round robin section of the North Midlands Vase.
This is a must win match for Redditch if they hope to progress in the competition as they were forced to forfeit their first match against Bredon Star,
Redditch will miss some of the muscle up front as vice captain Matt Allan and Craig Martin are unavailable. However the replacements are more than capable and the back line has speed to burn.
Last weekend Redditch tokk a "Barbarian Squad" to the Portway to join the Birmingham Bees in a fund raising match for charity.
The Bees started at 100 MPH and were on the scoreboard within minutes despite some solid tackling by the visitors The lightning fast Bees backs continued to take any opportunity given and the score mounted as the half progressed.
Redditch mounted attacks of their own but they were always effectively snuffed out.
The half time score was 26-0 and it looked to be set for a long afternoon for Redditch.
However, passes started to go to hand, lineout ball was taken and some good long kicks found touch to put territorial pressure on the Bees. Eventually the pressure told and Redditch got on the board with a converted try. The Bees were stung and hit back with a try of their own, but the visitors dug deep and finished the scoring with another converted try, winning the second half 14-7 but going down by 33-14.
For those turning out this weekend it was either a good hit out or the chance to have a rest and recover from injury.
Alzheimer's Society was the overall winner.
