After the heady heights of last week’s narrow victory Redditch came back down to earth when they welcomed Stourport to Bromsgrove Road on Saturday.
A weak scrum, rarely functioning line out and paper thin backline defence made it very difficult for Redditch on the day.
Too often they were turned over at the set piece losing lineouts, being pushed off their ball in the scrum and giving away needless penalties.
Stourport took their chances, making good ground with penalty kicks and spreading the ball wide to run in six tries to a solitary penalty for the home side.
Then, after a mystery yellow card against Stourport, Redditch seemed to lift their game and put some pressure on the visitors, resulting on Redditch scampering over for their first and only try on the day.
With another try disallowed Redditch finished strongly but could not add to the score.
It was all too little too late.
Hopefully coach James Shotbolt will work some miracles at practice this week as he prepares the team for another home match against Hereford 2nds, when the kick off will be 3:00pm
