Redditch travelled to Malvern only to find a late cry off had reduced them to 14 fit players.
Add to that a greasy pitch, a solid hail storm and freezing conditions and it was going to be worse than expected.
As Malvern threw everything at the visitors, Redditch fell foul of the referee, mainly over high tackles and the refereeing of the scrum. Answering back did not help and Malvern dominated the first period going into half time 29 points to the good.
A re focus at half time dropped the penalty count down to 3 and a yellow card for the second stanza, against Malverns 11 penalties and a yellow card.
Malvern opened the scoring in the sixteenth minute to take a 36-0 lead but from then on it was all Redditch.
Despite suffering injuries and their second yellow card Redditch dominated play, even though the yellow card reduced them to 12 players on the pitch.
Eventually the pressure produced results with Man of the Match Jack Mehrtens scoring two tries to take the final score to 36-12 with Redditch taking the second half in a determined effort.
Malvern now sit third in the table so this was a significant effort by Redditch who face 2nd placed Chaddesley Corbett at home on Saturday 6th December.
Great defensive efforts from Jack, Rory, Garry and Matt kept Redditch in the game and we look forward to welcoming Malvern to Bromsgrove Road.
