Redditch RFC

It was great to see the second XV back in action on Saturday.

With massive injury lists during the season it has been difficult to field a 2nd or vets team, but Skipper Loran Abbotts has managed to keep the enthusiasm going.

With a few ringers in evidence from Loran's contacts at other clubs, the Grasshoppers were keen to play - down to the point where thay brought their own Cornish Pasties, with enough for Redditch as well!

Redditch started down the hill, but despite putting regular pressure on the line the visitors held firm throughout the half.

Play was characterised by constant pressure from Redditch followed by a breakout by Stourbridge, several of which resulted in tries up the hill.

Redditch lost Daffyd Jones to a twisted knee, but Stourbridge willingly offerred up a substitute and play resumed.

A special mention to Stu Hope who handled his first refereeing appointment with some success. Presented with his first fracas he realised that maybe this hadn't been covered in the Introduction to Refereeing Course!

Turning round Redditch seemed to handle running up the slope much better than down, or perhaps Stourbridge were tiring after their efforts of the first half.

Redditch managed 19 points up the hill to finish the day 19-54 down.

A big thanks to all who turned out on the day to make a game possible and to the Grasshoppers for once again making the trip across to Redditch.
