Redditch RFC

10 - 35

(HT 10-21)

Tenbury RFC

Redditch hosted Tenbury in the merit table and were up against it from the start as they had a number of late cry offs so the available players dropped massively from 19 down to 13.

So, under merit table rules, it was 13 a side which gave Tenbury the immediate advantage of having fresh subs.

Playing on the first team pitch, with newly repaired goal posts, Redditch started brightly, and were well in the game up until half time.

However as the second half progressed Redditch players began to suffer the odd injury and numbers were reduced even further.

Tenbury took advantage and ran in several quick tries before asking the referee to "call it" with 10 minutes to go.

Highlight of the match for Redditch was Jason Robinson getting on the score sheet, after being denied tries, through poor passes, dropped ball and even being tackled in previous matches. Referee Jagir Singh even raised a smile as Jason scored, as he was sick of hearing of Jason's previous attempts. Any one who would listen was regaled late into the night as the club's leading try scorer this year told of his feats, even though he shared that honour with others.

Despite his outstanding achievment, special mention must be made of veteran scrum half Garry Mills who put in a full shift despite Captain Loran Abbots promising him half a game.

Well done to Garry who had spent the morning preparing the pitch and did really deserve a rest.
