Redditch secured sixth place with this victory in deepest Shropshire, an entertaining game that was played with scant regard for many of the laws of the game. Neither side were able to make their mark on the game, handling was disappointing and decision making was often misguided from both sides but once R got into their rhythm they built on the territorial dominance.
James Mills and Will Spires both had their kicking boots on and kept the home side pinned back in their own half but were unable to break down a stubborn defensive line. Mikey Essex had his usual solid game leading the drives forward ably assisted by Mikey Adams Chris Upton and Sid Allen. B A had their moments too, but a fine display of tackling from Jon Beale and Aaron Atkinson in particular snuffed out any danger.
The only score of the first half came from the boot of Spires from a penalty awarded for one of the frequent high tackles.
The second half played out pretty much the same but with mounting frustration from both sides at the lack of correct decisions being made by themselves and the referee. The frustrations led to more poor decision making but a sublime line cut by MoM Jon Beale allowed Conner Morris a free run to the line for a try converted by Spires.
There was little to commend in the remainder of the game though resolute defences from both sides held solid kept scoring opportunities to a minimum, though the home side did force their way over try line which was converted to make the closing stages a little tense, though it was R who had the upper hand when the game was brought to a close.
