It was with some regret that Redditch RFC took the decision to withdraw from the North Midlands Vase Plate by awarding a home walkover to Upton on Sevrern.
With a young and fairly inexperienced side the team management decided that a fixture against Upton, who are undefeated in the league above us, so far this season, would be a step too far for our lads.
Physically and mentally we did not want to be beaten up in a mismatch at this stage of the season.
Instead we took a team of fringe and 2nd team players over to Clee Hill, where a good competitive match was held.
We do apologise to Upton for depriving them of the fixture and wish them well in the rest of the competition.
