Stourport RFC
Redditch RFC

On a neighbouring yet much wetter, muddier pitch Redditch seconds also learned the value of taking the extra points when they were on offer, they outscored their hosts three tries to two yet only scraped the win by a point.

Virtually all the first half was spent in the Stourport half, but Redditch were unable to turn the territory and possession into points. A combination of resolute tackling and greasy handling meant the game was closing in on a scoreless half time but Will Baillon had other ideas finishing off a move under the posts. The heavy ground did not suit kicking off the tee.

The second half was a similar game but tiredness on both sides was leaving spaces. Redditch scrum half Wayne Sharpe rolled back the years with a blistering 70m sprint having ripped the ball from a maul and seeing no defence at home. Jack Shelton also took the long way to five points, a couple of side steps and a hand off saw him sail to the line and under the posts.

Like their first team Stourport need to go behind before they sprang into dangerous action, two well taken team tries scored wide were matched by two even better taken conversions to leave the game finely balanced at the final whistle.
