Having been made to wait for the start of the new season Redditch got off to a flyer at close rivals Bromsgrove. Fielding some debutants and some in new positions it was going to be interesting to see how they gelled, they were left with little doubt at the first scrum when the heavier home pack were pushed off their own ball. The dominance was maintained.
The pack were controlling the loose ball, scrumhalf Ben Mcguire distributed accurately, Fly half Glyn Smith bossed the midfield allowing Will Spires and Joe Morgan the freedom to run at pace.
Sid Allen opened the scoring with a 30m head on charge to the line, Harry Rutter popped up on the opposite wing to round off a crisp passing move. Joe Morgan ran virtually the full length of the pitch for his first score and Tyler Monger dived over unopposed following a neat line out move.

Within 20 mins had picked up their first try bonus point of the season and were dominating a very experienced opposition. B did more involved once they had recovered from the initial onslaught but solid and determined defence from R ensured they went into the break 0-24 in the lead.
Shortly after the restart, Glyn Smith's two first half conversions were added to when he converted his own try weaving his way to the line. Joe Morgan completed his hat trick with two more speedy darts to the line rounding off some incisive passing moves.

R's hopes of keeping their hosts off the score board were thwarted when a quick penalty tap caught them off guard late on , but Jack Mertens had the final say with the eighth try bringing up the round 50 points and a most satisfactory afternoon's performance.
Everyman played his part but the 15 points and his overall control of the game meant Glyn Smith was awarded Player of the Match.
