Ultimately this was the tale of two packs. The visitors scrum made up of big, mobile, strong experienced forwards against the home side's lightweight, agile, younger eight men. As a result R came off second best in the scrummages and much of the loose play giving OH plenty of ball to use.
But it was in the open play that R were able to thwart much of the danger, tackling well staling some good ball and giving themselves a few opportunities to score themselves but were found wanting at the last minute.
Injuries to both second row early on hindered their progression, and conceding a 'try' that was patently not grounded didn't help their self belief, but skipper Will Spires kept his men fighting to the end and they can hold their heads up.
Two first half tries were followed up with three in the second half , to of which were converted. The original centre partnership of Mark Green and Jack Mertens were solid throughout and unfortunate not to have been more successful and Elliot Williams at 10 kicked accurately. Though the back line was changing regularly the wingers couldn't make the most of the ball they received whilst Rory Allen at fullback again tackled hard and decisively.
The pack had its moments, Jon Beale sniped, Tom Dickens had a couple of good runs as did Jack Kelly, the rest of the pack gave their all but were outgunned by a vastly experienced opposition who used fair means and foul to over-run their hosts and take a bonus point win.
