Redditch RFC
Redditch produced a first half of attacking rugby that they had been threatening to produce for some weeks now. The forwards dominated up front against a much larger pack, and fed their backs who at times had the run of the park.
From the kick off R pressed hard and were rewarded in bizarre circumstances. Having thought they had scored wide on the right the home side pointed out to the ref the had been a knock he had missed, consequently he turned down the try, awarded a penalty instead from which the ever alert Matt Allen barged over to score.  Will Spires slotted the conversion, one of five out of six he was able to convert during the match.
Aaron Atkinson, playing in an unfamiliar 2nd row role,  brought equally unfamiliar speed to the position and outpaced his pursuers to score the second try whilst his partner in the pack, Jon Beale sneaked over the third whilst buried under a pack on the line.
Tackling throughout the game kept R on top, though at times TG were able to break through the first line of defence, but they were eventually thwarted by Man of the Match Rory Allen who made at least two try saving tackles, again.

Joe Morgan outstripped his man steering wide to score the fourth, and Matt Allen took a more direct route to make it five before the break and a 0-33 lead.
The second half only produced one more try for the ever active Joe Purvis but it was an entertaining 40 mins none the less. Takunda Kahwa and Harvey Habgood toyed with their opposite numbers in the back. Spires made ground and kept his forwards active up front. Despite being by far the lighter pack R's forwards outshoved TG in the tight scrum.
R were able to field three debutants , Chris Coleman, Albert Bok and Clarke Lostman who all contributed greatly to a fine all round team performance.
This Sat R host Droitwich II, currently league leaders but a side R have already beaten on the road.
Captain Will Spires found his kicking boots slotting 5 from 6
