A hard fought entertaining encounter saw R just fall short in this mid table clash. In a game dominated by short runs and solid tackling from both sides the play was concentrated in the centre field with try line opportunities rare. So with chances few and far between it was a wise move to take a shot at goal from virtually the half way when Archie Beddard calmly slotted a penalty kick over to break the deadlock.
A pivotal moment occurred shortly afterwards. As R pressured the K line a pass was intercepted and within seconds K had scored a try at the other end, a possible 0-10 became a 5-3. Another AB penalty from AB gave R a slender lead at the break but try scoring opportunities for both sides scarce.
The second half saw K build on their pressure, a second try and a couple of penalty kicks gave them a 16-6 lead which they managed well. R defence was generally solid, they tackled hard, kept K at bay but they lacked a little sharpness in attack until a crisp passage of play provided Jack Mertens with an opportunity which he took well.
This Sat play their final home game of the season v Droitwich II
Tyler Monger steals another lineout. Keresley had no answer to the Redditch jumping in the lineout where Tyler and his lifters stole several of the Keresley balls. Great team effort.
