Al the hard work over the last few months has finally paid off as Redditch totally controlled their match against Bromsgrove 3rds from beginning to end.
With the good control and discipline that new coach Stu Brooks has been looking for in evidence, Redditch kept their penalty count down low and defended grimly when Bromsgrove had the ball.
Though it was a total team effort special mention must be made of the second row pairing of Jon Beale and Joe McCombie who not only held the big Bromsgrove pack in the scrum but Jon Beale was awesome at the front of the line securing lots of good ball, whilst Joe delivered a man of the match performance. Regulars Rob Clulee and Tom Dickens, both out with injury, must be looking over their shoulders in awe of the new boys performances.
Tackling was extreme across the park with try saving efforts from Rory Allen and the diminutive Harry Rutter who punches far above his weight.
And two tries each rom Stu Brooks and Jack Mehrtens were complemented by 3 goals from captain Will Spires who took over the kicking duties gave Redditch a 28-5 victory.
All in all Redditch delivered the performance which has been building for several weeks.
We are next at home on SAturday 21st March when we host Malvern 2nds at Bromsgrove Road.
